How to Change Date and Time Format in WordPress
There are many different ways to express date and time. A date and time format that works for one will not necessarily work for the other. You may prefer writing the month first and then the date, or vice versa. Perhaps you’re a fan of abbreviated months, or you prefer expressing the months as numbers.
The same goes for the time. Some like the 12-hour clock while others strictly use the 24-hour format. Whatever your preferred format is, you’ll be happy to hear that it is possible (and very easy) to change the date and time format in WordPress.
Step 1
The first thing to do is to head over to your Dashboard and click on Settings. From there, click on General.
Step 2
You will now be prompted to select your timezone.
You can start by typing in the name of the city and then choose from the results in the dropdown menu.
Alternatively, you can set the UTC time zone, if you know what it is.
Step 3
Date format settings will be located just below.
You can pick one of the suggested date format options or create a custom one.
As you pick the format, the preview will appear just below the options.
Step 4
The time format settings are located just under the date format ones, so you can set those next.
Again, choose from one of the existing options, or click on Custom to define your own.
You can preview the selected format below.
Step 5
Here you can also set the starting day of the week.
Step 6
Once you’re done making changes to date and time formats, go ahead and click on Save Changes.
As you can see, changing the preferred date and time format in WordPress is very easy. It takes a few easy steps in your Dashboard, and the best thing is you can always change it back or even create custom formats.
